Lion City

New branch open in My Phuc, Phu My Hung, Dist 7
Had our dinner there on the 2nd day of opening. It was a busy Saturday night for the restaurant and we waited about 15 minutes to get a table as we insisted to sit inside to escape the hot and humid weather.
Back to the restaurant again the following morning for breakfast as we wanted to try the foods on the Breakfast Menu like Mee Siam, Toast with Kaya and Teh Tarik

Environment:
Unlike most restaurants in HCM, the air conditioning in this restaurant is blasting enough cool air and TT didn't sweat like a pig while having his dinner

Seating is not really comfortable and we could hear the noise from the kitchen and the yelling & screaming from the chef the whole time

The toilet is clean and you can't hear the chef screaming!!!

Rankingon environment: 4/10

Beverage:
Frosty Teh Tarik and we saw the kitchen staff really "tarik"

Frosty Kopi tarik not strong enough and still too sweet although we asked for "kurang manis"

Iced Peach Tea is too sweet according to WQ, but WH likes the taste
Ranking on beverage: 5/10

Food:
Toast with Kaya & Butter nothing compared to what we had back home

Curry chicken is ok but roti prata must be the frozen type

Fish Porridge - Disappointed because of fishy smell
There was also a lot of fish skin and tinny winny fish
The texture of the porridge wasn't very nice either,
it was a little gooey

Nasi Lemak big portion, can't imagine how small is the small portion. WS did not like the sunny side up fried egg as her prefers just normal fried egg;
otherwise, it is good.

Ordered Seafood Mee Goreng since Mee Siam was sold out.
Rated ***** on the menu but WS thought not enough seafood and mee, and too much vege(It's SEAFOOD mee goreng, of course it needs more seafood).
It was also a bit on the sweet side, probably too much sweet soy sauce.
Ranking on food: 5.5/10

Service:
On the Saturday dinner, we were lucky to get most of our foods within reasonable time frame, although it took about 15 minutes for them to bring one bowl of steam rice.
The customers sitting at both sides of our table were not as lucky,
one couple left after waiting for about half an hour when their chilli crabs probably still lying somewhere in the kitchen.
The other family waited about 20 minutes for their drinks and then decided to have their dinner somewhere else where they don't have to listen to the yelling from the chef.
Most of the staff need better training to handle the busy situation and no customers (and the staff) will enjoy listening to the chef's yelling at the top of his voice while having dinner.
Ranking on service: 3/10

Price:
The restaurant is having 50% discount on foods until 24th August. Overall, the prices here are higher as compared to other restaurants.
Ranking on price:4/10

Overall:
Can't compare to the foods back home but it is better than nothing and it is near where we stay. Hopefully service would improve with time and the chef is not stressed and in good mood when we go to dine there.
Ranking on Lion City: 4.5/10

YUCKY!
